Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Dundee, UK

Position Summary & Key Areas Of Responsibility
This rewarding position involves working as part of a team in Dundee and with other facilities and suppliers in the support, design, evaluation, and test of media handling devices used in self‑service products such as ATMs (Auto‑Teller Machines for the Banking Industry). A key requirement is to have 2‑4 years’ mechanical design experience with a keen interest in the design of electro/mechanical systems operating under S/W control.
* Support new and existing media handling products from a mechanical perspective
* Evaluate different technologies and provide recommendations with backup analysis
* Gain experience in the Design of Mechanisms, working with tooling suppliers and parts manufacture
* Deliver cost‑effective designs to specification and engineering standards
* Supplier engagement and change management
* Collaborate with engineers from different disciplines
* Hold design reviews, stress analysis, assembly tolerances, testing and problem correction CLCA
* Release work products using the approved system with all relevant documentation required to implement your design change
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
A Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred).
* Working understanding of mechanical design principles and technologies
* Minimum of 2 years post‑graduate related experience
* Technology awareness in the areas:
o High speed, document feeding, transportation, sorting & stacking mechanisms
o Autonomous, fault‑tolerant systems under the impact of climatic variations
o Simulation/FEA
* Clearly understand documentation and the ability to work solely on problems as well as within a team environment
* Strives to work to and set high work standards and be a good communicator
* Working CAD experience (ProE/Creo or Solidworks)
* An understanding of mechanical drive systems
* Understanding of plastic moulding, sheet metal fabrication design, parts manufacture and tooling
* Drawing, dimensioning & tolerancing experience
* Stress and tolerance analysis experience
* Mechanism design experience is an advantage
* Experience with assemblies containing PCBs/harnesses is an advantage
* Experience with rapid prototyping technologies
* Willing to travel, globally e.g. customer sites for support or analysis
