Vanrath are recruiting for a Band 3 Residential Support Worker for older persons on behalf of a large public sector company in Banbridge on a temporary basis.

The post holder will work as a member of the residential care team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care to meet the assessed needs of all the service users.
The post holder will be expected to work as a member of a team of caring staff whose main responsibility will be the day-to-day care of the residents accommodated in Residential Care Service.
The objective of Residential Care Service is to provide a greater degree of support than can be given to those older people who are temporarily or permanently unable to cope with the practicalities of living in their own homes or with relatives. It is expected that all service users will be encouraged and assisted to lead as normal a life as they are able by maintaining individuality and dignity and retaining their status as independent adults.
What you'll do
* To assist in the development of a high quality person centred service and assist in the development of the service according to changing need.
* Assist in completion of assessment of service users.
* Contribute to individual care plans based on a person centred approach and ensure the plan is monitored and reviewed in accordance with Trust procedures
* Participate in monitoring and reviewing service users
* Provide written Reports.
* To support service users to self-administer medication or to administer medication to service users following the medication procedure. To report discrepancies and seek advice from line manager where required.
* To participate in meeting the physical and personal needs of service users by helping where necessary, with toileting and feeding to ensure identified care needs are met.
* Assist in the development of health, social and leisure activity plans for service users.
* Promote and assist in developing effective communication with families, friends and advocates of service users.
* Advocate with and on behalf of service users.
* To contribute to the moving and handling of Service Users to maximize their physical comfort in accordance with the Trust's Safer Patient Handling Policy and individual risk assessment/safe systems.
* Observe, report and record any unusual behaviour of, or incidents involving residents and ensure that concerns are reported and responded to by senior care staff.
* Participate in training courses as required for staff development purposes.
* To be conversant with first aid and undertake First Aid Training as required.
* To Assist to maintain and develop Service User involvement.
* To Assist with the checking of supplies in the residential home.
* To Identify and report risk to residents and staff as appropriate.
* To identify and report concerns regarding adult protection issues for further investigation.
About you
Essential:
Hold NVQ/QCF/VRQ/RCF Level 2 in Health/Health & Social Care Certificate (or equivalent qualification)
plus
1 years paid experience delivering direct care in a care environment, which must include personal care
OR
Have 4 GCSE's at Grade C or above, including English Language or equivalent/higher qualification
plus
1 years paid experience delivering direct care in a care environment, which must include personal care and be willing to complete RCF Level 2 Certificate in Health & Social Care within 18 months of appointment
OR
Have a minimum of 18 months paid experience delivering direct care in a care environment, which must include personal care and be willing to complete RCF Level 2 Certificate in Health & Social Care within 18 months of appointment.
