Job Role: Plant fitter - Workshop Based
Location: Wellingborough
Basic Salary: £45,000 + Overtime - Yearly earnings of £50,000 - £55,000
Working ours: 07:00 - 17:00 - Monday - Friday
My client is a major player within the construction machinery sector. They are currently looking to add a new workshop based Plant Fitter to their growing team at their depot located in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on new machines and fit additional parts and attachments as required.
* Investigate, diagnose and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
* Perform general engineering duties, including working at height and beneath/within machines.
* Repair and maintain machinery using company-supplied lifting equipment.
* Drive and manoeuvre machines inside and outside of the workshop.
* Service a wide variety of machines within the workshop environment.
* Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
* Complete job cards to a high standard within agreed timeframes.
* Complete all paperwork and timesheets accurately and promptly.
* Request parts efficiently and effectively.
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
* Supervise other workshop engineers when required, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safe working practices.
* Provide cover for the Foreman during absence or annual leave.
* Assist with booking machines in and out of the workshop.
* Ensure machines are prepared and ready for transport/collection.
* Follow all relevant procedures when repairing and inspecting equipment.
* Ensure work and personal equipment complies with all safety standards.
* Manage warranty parts returns in line with company procedures.
* Comply with all company policies and procedures.
* Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy.
* Contribute to the overall success of the business through teamwork and effective communication.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping within the workshop.
* Present a professional image at all times.
* Ensure personal tools are safe and compliant for use.
* Use only company-supplied lifting equipment (including straps, trolley jacks, etc.).
* Remain flexible and adaptable to all aspects of the role.
Essential Requirements
* City & Guilds Level 2 in Plant Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
* OR recent hands-on experience working as a Plant Fitter
* Solid mechanical knowledge across diesel, hydraulics, and electrical systems
* Full UK driving licence
* Good problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
