FULL-TIME VETERINARY SURGEON-KENT. PART-TIME CONSIDERED
Opportunity for new graduate or someone with experience wanting more enjoyment from their veterinary career.
Location
The surgery is based in a gentle residential area. The lovely Kent countryside is only 10 minutes walk away. The whole area is designated as National Landscape (AONB). Lovely seaside is also only 10minutes away.
The Practice
Our independent, small animal practice on the beautiful Kent coast was set up in 2016. We have been growing steadily ever since and we are now ready to welcome another vet to the team.
“My previous jobs have been with an independent and a corporate practice so I know what’s out there. Working for HVS has restored my love for veterinary and helped me get that work life balance back, juggling a young family and being a full time vet. It’s not just the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that is here, it is of course, the working hours as well. The four-day week, the same day off every week and early finishes really help you through those intense moments knowing there will soon be light at the end of the tunnel. Not consulting right up to closing time helps you focus properly on those last appointments and clients don’t feel they are being rushed out the door. I can put everything into those busy days knowing there is time to recover, time to be at home. Having a nursing team that get on well together and are so supportive of vets and each other helps create a good working environment” Bonnie MRCVS
The Role
We are a supportive vet surgeon team with various interests and we regularly share our opinions, expertise or concerns with each other. We have clinical freedom to work up our cases knowing there is always someone we can talk to about medical cases or to ask for help during surgery.
Whether you are looking to follow your interests or develop new skills, we will help you achieve your goals. We encourage a contextualised approach to complicated medical or surgical cases or where finances are a limitation when treating an interesting or unusual case. This enables us to offer in house diagnosis and treatment for some cases that normally would be referred or would not be treated because of financial constraints. We regularly see what effect this approach has on job satisfaction and client loyalty.
We have a loyal client base and we pride ourselves in being known locally as approachable and friendly. We rarely get complaints.
Our full-time vets work a 4-day week and 1:4 Saturday mornings. We are happy to chat about part-time hours if you have other commitments to work around. Your day will either be predominantly operating or consulting. No rushing between consults and ops. If you have a big op or a first-time challenge, space is created to remove time pressure.
Successful Candidate
We are seeking a veterinary surgeon who is confident in routine ops and has post graduate experience in general practice. However, we are lucky enough to have an experienced team who will support and mentor a new graduate as you will always work with an experienced colleague.
We are forward-thinking and are looking for ways to progress and grow the practice. We will want you to bring your ideas and enthusiasm. If you have a particular area of interest, we would be happy to invest in the necessary equipment to help you further your career.
