Licencing Technical Officer – Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council
Join us in delivering excellent licensing services for the community. This role is part of the Environmental Health team, specialising in licensing across a range of sectors.
Position type: Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level, 37 hours per week (hybrid working)
Salary: £38,350 per annum starting, progressing to £41,254 pa (inclusive of outer fringe allowance)
Key Responsibilities
* Uphold licensing objectives, including public safety, crime prevention, protection of children and public nuisance.
* Conduct consultations, determine and issue licences in accordance with Council’s delegation scheme, and attend hearings when required.
* Provide specialist technical advice, make decisions and respond to customers, officers and members on service requests and enquiries.
* Support operational development and delivery of the Regulatory Services department, meeting statutory and service targets.
* Carry out enforcement consistent with statutory licensing duties, local policy and national guidance.
* Attend court, committees or tribunals to give evidence as necessary.
What We’re Looking For
* Enthusiastic and knowledgeable officer with service delivery experience.
* Genuine interest in public protection and support for the business community.
* Valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
