G3 Systems is seeking an experienced Construction Planner with a proven track record in NEC contracts and compensation events to join our team on prestigious FCDO projects. You will develop and manage construction programmes from bid through delivery, lead programme meetings, and collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners. Essential: NEC contract expertise, programme management experience, strong stakeholder engagement, and proficiency with planning software (Primavera P6/MS Project).
Desirable: Experience with FCDO or other international projects, multi-discipline construction exposure, and additional project management tools.
Key Requirements
Essential:
* Proven track record in planning and programme management within construction projects.
* Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts and compensation events.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings (Architectural, Structural, Civil, MEP, and specialist packages) and convert them into logical, efficient construction programmes.
* Experience in producing, updating, and auditing detailed programmes to support decision-making and operational delivery.
* Skilled in identifying project risks (time, cost, quality, safety, change control) and providing effective mitigation strategies.
* Competence in managing procurement schedules and liaising with commercial and design teams.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, supply chain, and internal teams.
* Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present clearly at programme and progress meetings.
* Proficiency in relevant planning software tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
Desirable:
* Experience working on high-profile FCDO or international projects.
* Knowledge of additional project management or scheduling software.
* Previous exposure to multi-discipline construction projects in diverse environments.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* Interpret technical construction processes to determine logical and efficient methodologies, translating these into detailed construction programmes across Architectural, Structural, Civil, MEP, and specialist disciplines.
* Provide comprehensive planning services for both live projects and future proposals.
* Lead programme meetings with management, operations teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
* Produce accurate and timely programmes to support decision-making and enhance operational efficiency.
* Collate and validate project progress, providing clear and accurate reports to the Project Manager.
* Identify project risks relating to time, cost, quality, safety, and change control, and recommend mitigation strategies.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and supply chain partners to ensure robust project planning.
* Manage and control all programme-related information, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
* Work closely with the commercial team and Design Manager during procurement, including preparation and maintenance of procurement schedules aligned to the construction programme, development of trade-specific programmes for tender handovers, and engagement with subcontractors regarding methodology and programme expectations.
* Conduct programme audits as required by senior management and prepare independent, objective reports.
Location:
Primarily on-site at Osprey Quay, Portland, Dorset, UK, with hybrid working opportunities and required overseas travel as necessary
Qualifications required:
* Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction
* Recognised training in project planning software (desirable not essential)
Skills / Experience Required:
* Strong and demonstrable experience using Primavera, Asta Powerproject or MS Project to generate detailed programmes
* 5+ years in a similar position
* Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office suite of applications to a intermediate / advanced level
* Commercially and contractually aware focusing on the NEC 3/4 contracts
* Strong communicator
* Ability to work in an agile manner, working flexibly to ensure deadlines are achieved.
* Knowledge and experience of international projects desirable

* Salary starting from £55,000 per annum (based on experience)
