We have a vacancy for a Sales Engineer to join our busy team in Lincoln. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB ​ The Sales Engineer will need to approach potential customers with the aim of winning new business, and strive to maintain good relationships with existing clients, gaining repeat business wherever possible, generating sales leads, qualifying prospects, and closing deals through customer visits, over the phone or via email, with the overarching view of achieving revenue targets and expanding our customer base. They will also be responsible for combining technical knowledge with sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of products to our customers to help. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Relationship Management: Serve as point of contact for all customers, helping to build strong relationships. Build and maintain relationships with key clients to enhance business opportunities and market presence. Understand clients' needs, objectives, and challenges, and develop tailored solutions to address them. Conduct regular visits and check-ins to assess client satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional value-added services. Sales and Business Development: Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth and expand the organisations customer base. Identify opportunities for cross-selling products and services to meet customer needs and increase profitability. Collaborate with internal teams and other companies within the R&G Group to develop competitive proposals and recommendations for clients. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within all sectors. Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to expand the company's presence, generate leads, stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices within the industry. Contract Management: Manage contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and conditions for both the company and client. Monitor contract performance and compliance, resolving any issues or disputes that may arise. Coordinate effectively with relevant staff members to align activities, achieve goals and objectives, and ensure timely delivery of products and services to clients are met on time. Customer Service Excellence: Ensure that you deliver exceptional customer service and maintains high levels of customer satisfaction. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and effectively, resolving issues to the customer's satisfaction. Promote a customer-centric culture within the branch, focusing on building long-term relationships and loyalty. Reporting and Communication: Be able to accurately forecast revenue projections for all working accounts based on sales pipeline, historical performance, and market analysis. Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of each account and strategic initiatives. Represent the business when asked in meetings, presentations, and other forums, articulating its goals, achievements, and challenges. Be able to complete relevant reports on branch performance, operational activities, and key metrics to share at sales meetings or directly to the company directors when needed. Communicate effectively with all members of staff to coordinate activities and achieve common objectives. Comply with company health safety policies and procedures and, as applicable, ensure safe use and maintenance of all equipment and fully utilise all safety items within the legal and H&S requirements. JOB DIMENSIONS / SCOPE Responsible for the overall performance and success of the Sales Team. Drives to succeed branch-specific financial targets and operational KPIs KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Good commercial awareness and preferably a background in B2B. Competency in Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of Profit Plus (OGL) would be an advantage. A background in engineering products and consumables would be preferable. Strong understanding of sales, customer service, and financial management. Exceptional knowledge of UK fluid power industry and strong connections across UK manufacturing industry. COMPETENCIES / CAPABILITIES Sales acumen, business development capabilities, and strategic planning Ability to work collaboratively with a decentralised, multi-entity group. Excellent communication, negotiation, and people skills. • Sound knowledge of services, and market trends. Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and work effectively under pressure. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the industry. Commitment to delivering exceptional customer care and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. A positive and proactive approach to selling. The ability to handle technical enquiries and respond to clients in an accurate and timely manner.
