The roleWere looking for a proactiveMaintenance Officer to deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services across our residential estates. Youll carry out a range of tasks including inspections, reactive and planned maintenance, and ensuring properties remain safe, compliant and well-presented for residents. Working both independently and with contractors, youll play a key role in maintaining standards, responding to issues quickly, and ensuring a positive living environment through a customer-focused, hands-on approach.This role can be based at Chertsey, Surrey.
The role is required to be on site 5 days in the office, 08:30am 16:30pm.Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Conduct health and safety inspections in accordance with our service standards and contractual obligations.Comply with our vetting and contractor management procedure when instructing external contractors to complete repairs and maintenance works on our behalf.Carry out repairs and maintenance duties in accordance with Southern Housings safe operating procedures and relevant health & safety policies.Maximise site occupancy by ensuring the void repairs/maintenance schedule is completed within target including any fixtures and fittings associated work.Provide high quality painting and decorating service including preparation of surfaces, filling cracks/holes, efficient use of materials, matching paint shades with existing and maintaining safe areas of work including signage.Keep all windows, doors, kitchen units and furniture are in working order by repairing, replacing or easing and adjusting.What youll needBasic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, tiling, painting and decorating skills as well as knowledge of fire, health and safety regulations in a residential setting.Experience in contract management.Ability to manage demanding workloads and prioritise effectively.Confidence to work independently, with a proactive can-do approach to problem solving.Strong customer focus, with a commitment to delivering excellent service.Proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve shared objectives.In your supporting statement, it is important that you address how you meet each of theabovecriteriaprovidingreal examples.Closing Date: Tuesday 23rd June2026 at 23:59Shortlisting: 24th June 2026Interviews: 7th & 12th JulyPlease note: We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications.
