Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our clients dynamic healthcare team in Kilbride. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within the operating department. This position offers guaranteed work and the flexibility of block booking.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perioperative Patient Care:
o Assist in the preparation of the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment is available.
o Collaborate with the surgical team to provide comprehensive patient care during preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
o Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to any changes.
2. Surgical Assistance:
o Prepare and handle surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
o Assist surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs and maintaining a sterile environment.
o Ensure the safe and efficient functioning of equipment in the operating room.
3. Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with fellow healthcare professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthetists, to ensure seamless coordination during surgical procedures.
o Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
4. Documentation and Record Keeping:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
o Document all aspects of perioperative care, including preoperative assessments and postoperative observations.
5. Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
o Follow established protocols, guidelines, and infection control measures to maintain a safe and effective working environment.
o Stay informed about advancements in perioperative care and integrate best practices into daily routines.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner.
* Relevant academic qualifications in ODP or equivalent.
* Proven experience working in perioperative care, preferably in a variety of surgical specialties.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to dynamic surgical environments.
