This post is within Moray as we expand geriatric services to meet the needs of an ageing population. The geriatric model of care aims to develop networks of expertise across secondary and primary care, providing inpatient care at Dr Gray’s Hospital, supporting other hospital specialties, and collaborating with GPs across Moray. There are pan-Grampian linkages to aid service delivery in areas such as Movement Disorders and Stroke Medicine, with opportunities to develop Grampian-wide relationships and models of care with colleagues in Aberdeen. This post may be based at Dr Gray’s Hospital and/or in the community and offers opportunities to develop services in areas of subspecialist interest you may have, including Frailty at the Front Door, Acute Inpatient Care, Orthogeriatrics and Surgical Liaison, Movement Disorders, Community Hospital Rehabilitation, alternative to admission, Stroke Medicine and Community Care models. The team aims to provide a resilient service across Community, Front Door and In-patient settings.
Responsibilities
The post will have a role within Dr Gray’s Hospital and/or the community. Responsibilities include contributing to the development and delivery of geriatric services, participating in frailty pathways, and contributing to out-of-hours work as part of the Frailty team. There is the option to participate in the General Medicine on-call rota for those who wish to do so, with the opportunity to explore joining the OOH medical rota.
Work Environment and Structure
The main inpatient base is Ward 7, Dr Gray’s Hospital. The unit is supported five days a week by Nurse Practitioners and Resident Doctors, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Social Work, with out-of-hours support from the on-call medical team.
Qualifications and Registration
* Full GMC registration and a licence to practise (licence must be in place prior to starting).
* For UK-trained doctors: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
* CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post only after CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded.
* Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Locum Consultant posts (up to 12 months) may be considered for doctors with appropriate specialist training not listed on the GMC Specialist Register; CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration can be pursued during locum employment.
