Position Overview
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Palliative Care – 21.6 hours per week, Permanent. Band 6. (Additional 0.9 hours per week fixed term March 2027)
Join the Specialist Palliative Care Services at Borders General Hospital, Margaret Kerr Unit. The role will work across community and hospital settings, providing specialist advice and support for people with life‑shortening conditions, their families and those important to them.
Responsibilities
* Deliver effective judgement and decisions for people with life‑shortening conditions.
* Make a difference in patients’ care experience through high quality, holistic assessment of their needs and priorities.
* Provide specialist advice and support to patients, families and stakeholders.
* Collaborate closely with professional colleagues across community and acute services to ensure joined‑up care.
* Work autonomously while being part of a team, demonstrating confidence and competence.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experienced registered nurse in palliative or related care.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
* Commitment to delivering high quality, patient‑centred care with safe and effective judgements.
* Ability to assess and prioritise care needs holistically.
* Confidence and competence to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
