Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Prototype Wirer to join our team in Sunbury-on-Thames. This hands-on role involves building and wiring new prototype units currently in development, working from engineering drawings and schematics. The successful candidate will work on small to medium-sized enclosures and mechanical assemblies, ensuring all prototypes are built to high standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and wire prototype units in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
2. Carry out point-to-point wiring, soldering, crimping, looming, and cable termination.
3. Assemble and wire small/medium enclosures and connect diesel engines onto frame enclosures.
4. Perform mechanical fitting tasks, including marking out, drilling, and tapping.
5. Use a range of hand and power tools, such as spanners, screwdrivers, Allen keys, ratchet sets, and electric drills.
6. Interpret and work from engineering wiring diagrams, schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
7. Support problem-solving activities and contribute ideas for improvements during prototype builds.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. Proven experience in prototype wiring or assembly within a manufacturing environment.
2. Ability to read and work from detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
3. Confident using mechanical hand tools and power tools.
4. Experience in point-to-point wiring, soldering, crimping, and cable termination.
5. Previous experience in sectors such as aerospace, defence, or automotive (advantageous).
6. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a flexible, practical approach.
7. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
8. Must be able to read, write, and understand English to a good standard.

Clearance Requirements:
1. Must have the right to work in the UK – please note we are unable to accept spousal visas.
2. Candidates must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
3. BPSS clearance, CRB check, and address verification will be required.
4. Must be able to provide 3 years of employment history.
