Job description
Head of History – North Manchester
We are specifically working with a ‘Good’ secondary school in North Manchester, who are working exclusively with ourselves, to join them teaching and leading History key stage 3 & 4 from now, on an ongoing basis, likely to be for the full academic year on a full-time basis. This role could go permanent for the right candidate.
You will be required to become fully immersed in the department, attend departmental meetings and be available for parents’ evenings as and when required. As well as deliver lessons that are both engaging and academically appropriate to stretch the students in the classes.
As well as the above you will be required to maintain high standards across your department by monitoring the progress of the staff below you. You will also be required to implement any key focuses the school has to improve teaching and learning for students. You would also be expected to run department meetings and help with maintaining behaviour across your subject.
This is a brilliant chance to get involved in a school that puts the students first with a warm, happy, and safe environment. The staff and students have a sense of pride in their diverse culture and celebrate this with a culture day, which focuses on the different backgrounds that make their community better. The students take on extra responsibility demonstrating their maturity. This includes school council, being a prefect or a librarian. The school also has a strong community spirit with a ‘community fridge’, which connects them with the wider area.
