Food critic William Sitwell’s White Hart in Wiveliscombe, West Somerset, has been in the media spotlight since launch on December 1. Now head chef Dom Hewitt is seeking a sous chef to join his busy kitchen that serves a menu of Italian food as well as breakfasts for the property’s 16 bedrooms and to assist with special events. The winning candidate will be a hard-working, self-starter keen to understand the chef’s exacting and precise dishes, will be tidy and clean and a great team-player. Independent transport essential, accommodation not provided.*Responsibilities** Assist in menu development and planning, including catering and fine dining menus* Oversee food production, preparation, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality* Maintain inventory control and manage food supplies to minimize waste and optimize costs* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards* Lead food handling, cooking, and plating during service hours* Collaborate with restaurant management on menu updates, staffing, and operational improvements*Requirements** Strong background in food production, culinary techniques, and kitchen management* Experience with banquet services, dietary accommodations, and food safety protocols* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively* Knowledge of inventory management, food handling, and cost control strategies* Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality* Culinary experience in the food industry with a focus on hospitality or restaurant settings* Certification in food safety is preferredJob Type: Full-timePay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per yearBenefits:* Company pension* On-site parkingWork Location: In person
