Are you a sports graduate who comes alive when you’re leading a session, motivating a team, or getting people moving? Do you love the buzz of helping others grow in confidence—and fancy bringing that same energy into a school environment?
If so, one of our partner secondary schools in Winchester would love to welcome you into their team.
Whether you’re exploring teaching, coaching, youth development or pathways into PE, this role gives you real hands‑on experience that actually counts. You do NOT need school experience. If you’ve captained a sports team, run a warm‑up drill, coached a group, or supported younger players, you already have exactly the kind of skills we can help you build on.
Perfect for active, energetic grads who love being on the move.
Key responsibilities
* Lead warm‑ups, drills, and practical PE activities
* Support the PE department with lessons, equipment set‑up, and team events
* Keep sessions fun, structured, and engaging
* Motivate students who love sport – and the ones who don’t (yet!)
When you’re not in the sports hall or on the field, you’ll step into classroom‑based cover.
Classroom cover duties
* Deliver pre‑planned lessons across a range of subjects
* Use your coaching style to keep students focused
* Show calm leadership and strong communication
* Build confidence in behaviour management – a key skill for any future PE teacher
No teaching or planning required. Just your energy, presence and ability to lead a group.
What you’ll build
* Real classroom management experience
* Leadership skills that transfer into any sports career
* Confidence working with young people
* A proper understanding of school life
* A springboard into PE teacher training
Lots of sports graduates start here and go on to train as PE teachers, sports coaches, or youth mentors – and many decide to stay in education long‑term because they love the impact they’re making.
Benefits
* Free training (including behaviour and confidence‑building)
* Optional taster days – try it before you commit
* Flexible or full‑time work
* Supportive check‑ins from a friendly team who actually care
* Clear pathways into future PE teacher training
* A chance to stay fit, active and involved in sport while you work
Ideal candidate profile
* Confident and happy leading groups
* Energetic, positive, and ready to get stuck in
* Calm under pressure and adaptable
* Strong communicators with a natural coaching style
* Keen to support young people and grow their experience
If you’ve ever coached, captained, volunteered in sport, or led a warm‑up – you’re already on the right track.
