The role
As a Senior Ship Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll take ownership of delivering the Ship Project to plan on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and scope. This is a pivotal role where you’ll integrate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, supply chain, production, and quality to achieve exceptional results.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
1. Build and lead an integrated project delivery team across multiple functions.
2. Manage customer interfaces and key stakeholders, ensuring strong relationships.
3. Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective responses.
4. Drive world-class performance through continuous improvement and technology adoption.
5. Oversee governance, reporting, and compliance to deliver against project objectives.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Senior Ship Project Manager
6. Extensive recent experience in a similar environment or business sector.
7. Full project lifecycle experience from bid phase through to close out.
8. Proven ability to manage complex projects involving diverse products and services.
9. Strong knowledge of contracting methodologies (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, JCT).
10. Cross-functional awareness of lifecycle requirements for supporting functions.
Qualifications for the Senior Ship Project Manager
11. Ideally a bachelor’s degree in engineering, project, or construction management (or related field).
12. Postgraduate qualification desirable, as is membership of a professional body.
13. APM Chartered Professional (ChPP) or working towards this within 12 months.
