Material Planner
Welwyn Garden City
Salary: £30,000 – £32,000
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
About the Role
We are currently partnering with our client within the construction sector to recruit a Material Planner to join their Supply Chain Management team based in Welwyn Garden City. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual to support the smooth flow of materials while maintaining strong service levels across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain inventory at optimal levels to meet service requirements while controlling overall stock value.
Reduce excess and obsolete stock through effective planning and monitoring.
Work closely with internal teams to understand future demand and align supply accordingly.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Raise purchase orders with both internal group companies and external suppliers.
Expedite urgent requirements and support internal teams with priority orders.
Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities and meetings.
Monitor supplier performance and maintain accurate supplier records within SAP.
Ensure system data is accurate and up to date, including pricing, lead times, and product details.
Provide lead time and stock availability information to internal teams.
Produce reports and analysis on stock levels, order status, and key metrics.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to stock, pricing, or system data.
Support new product setup, including stocking policies and pricing structures.
Identify and suggest continuous improvements to processes and systems.
Represent the business professionally and uphold company values at all times.

Experience Required
Previous experience in inventory or material planning within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
