Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Information Governance Assurance Officer within our Information Governance Team based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
Hours:
37 hours per week Monday-Friday.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
What you will do:
Reporting to the Head of Information Governance & Data Protection Officer the post holder will assist the Freedom of Information Officer and Corporate Records Manager to support the day to day operational activities associated with IG functions with particular emphasis on FOI and CRM activities.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to assist with the management of requests for information under Scotlands freedom of information laws and support the Boards Corporate Records Management (CRM) function.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about records management, information rights, law and practice who wishes to develop their skills in a role which will take them to every area of the organisation. The Information Governance Team is a team of specialist staff who; develop monitor and oversee the implementation of NHS Ayrshire & Arran's Information Governance agenda. This includes; data protection, information security, freedom of information, confidentiality, Caldicott, records management, and information quality.
As part of the Information Governance Team, the successful candidate will be able to develop their skills in all areas of information governance, delivering training, and helping to develop processes and documentation to support organisational wide information governance maturity.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
NHS Ayrshire & Arran seek a highly motivated candidate with excellent organisational skills who is an effective communicator adept at influencing change. The successful candidate with be educated to Degree level or with equivalent relevant experience with advanced knowledge in the use of the Microsoft office suite, advanced computer skills and proficiency in the use of electronic information systems. We are looking for someone with experience of interpreting and applying information governance legislation, who can demonstrate critical analysis skills, sound judgement and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will need to be able to present and explain complicated information in an accessible way. A flexible approach to work, the ability to effectively manage a workload with competing demands, and experience of team working.
