About you:
You will have experience of working with customers facing a range of financial challenges and be enthusiastic about understanding customers' individual situations to find person-centred, flexible and creative solutions. Some knowledge of the welfare benefit landscape and / or the advice sector would be helpful.
About the role:
The Welfare Assistance Officers administer discretionary support to low-income households in Exeter. From April this includes the new Crisis and Resilience Fund. As well as deciding applications for Crisis Payments and making awards, you will be helping the customer to access other wrap-around support to help their longer-term resilience.
About the team:
You will be joining two other experienced Welfare Assistance Officers and be supported by two senior officers who have been working in this area for many years. The wider Benefits and Welfare team sit within the Finance service of the council. You will work closely with colleagues in other teams, in particular Customer Services, Housing Advice and the Housing Service.
