Job Purpose RES currently provides High Voltage Operations and Maintenance (HV O&M) Services to renewable energy assets in the UK & Ireland. Due to increased demand from our clients and a growing portfolio, we are seeking an HV Operations Manager to develop, grow and improve this service. The role will focus on the day to day operational management of a team of SAPs and sites along with growing and improving the service in accordance with company safety, quality and environmental systems. The key objectives are to maximise the performance of the clients assets, increase maintenance efficiency and achieve a high level of safety performance. The ideal candidate will have held HV authorisations, be experienced developing people, and have strong commercial awareness. This is a permanent role and will require availability for some weekend on-call duties. This is a home based role with regular travel to RES offices and operational sites. Key Accountabilities The responsibilities of the HV Operations Manager include: Service Operational Activities: Develop internal contacts within RES to understand existing RES systems, organisation and contracts Manage a regional portfolio of sites with different technologies Day-to-day management of a team of HV SAPs, fitters and engineers, ensuring adherence to safety requirements at all time Managing the Tool and equipment needs for your team including testing compliance Measuring maintenance performance metrics and taking actions to improve Take ownership and manage the commercial aspects of your region Producing maintenance plans in accordance with contract, manufacturer's requirements and good industry practice Scheduling resources, safely managing work control and reporting on completed work Ensuring compliance with the Safety Rules Writing and reviewing RAMS, permits and maintenance procedures Service Management Activities: Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO and asset owner Supporting in the tendering process for new opportunities. Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances Determining common causes of lost production and identifying performance improvement opportunities, e.g. response time Single point of contact for the RES HV O&M service, and providing updates to clients and information for contractual reporting P&L responsibilities for the services and contracts under management Producing quotations for remedial and project works Ensuring client invoicing and supplier payment is carried out correctly Playing a key part in adopting new sites into the maintenance systems Using and maintaining a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other quality management tools as necessary Knowledge Essential: Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules including HSG85 Detailed knowledge of HV asset maintenance practices including HSG230 Desirable: Knowledge of solar farm assets Earthing system design, installation, test. Protection system design, installation, test. Relay set up, commissioning, testing Skills Essential: Strong approach to safe working practices Excellent communication skills Strong people skills Ability to coordinate multiple activities whilst ensuring safety and quality are maintained Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis and develop solutions Able to accurately plan high voltage maintenance work including labour, materials and skills Experience Essential: Track record of successful commercial and contractual business management Track record of solving tough technical and commercial challenges with innovative approaches Experience working under and contributing to improvements of ISO9001 compliant management systems Qualifications Essential: Full UK driving licence Experience in engineering or other relevant qualification, or equivalent industry experience Electrical Engineering undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent Desirable: Holds or previously held SAP, AP, Control Person authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules NEBOSH diploma desirable.
