The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team, working and learning together.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We work with FTSE 100 and 250 companies, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
* National Markets: We operate across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds, aiming to grow local economies.
The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, serving diverse clients and deals.
We assist clients in understanding tax issues and structuring transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving multiple countries, taxes, and work streams.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice
* Support in developing new business opportunities, proposals, and pitches
* Maintain and develop client relationships within Deal Advisory
* Serve as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams for effective delivery
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
* Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
* Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
* Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, and interested in transactions
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
* Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive
* Ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships
* Leadership and coaching abilities
* Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
