Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Full Time Location: Hartlepool Start Date: January Contract: Supply / Long-term (with potential to become permanent) We are pleased to be working with a supportive and forward-thinking SEMH provision in Hartlepool, who are seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team from January. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity within a specialist setting that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. For the right candidate, there is clear potential for the role to become permanent. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to engage with learning and develop positive behaviours. Your responsibilities will include: Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs Supporting the creation of a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment Assisting the class teacher with tailored learning activities Building strong, trusting relationships to support emotional regulation Applying calm and consistent de-escalation strategies Supporting pupils in the classroom and around the school as required About You We are looking for someone who brings: Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour A calm, patient and empathetic approach Strong behaviour management and communication skills The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) What's on Offer Competitive daily pay rates Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant Free access to training and CPD opportunities The opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to pupils' lives How to Apply If you are passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and thrive in education, we would love to hear from you.
