Financial Controller - Fixed Term Contract (12 Months) £70,000 - £75,000 London | Hybrid Working A prestigious Not-for-Profit organisation in London is seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Controller to join their team on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a key leadership role within Finance, offering the opportunity to shape financial processes and compliance in a purpose-driven environment. The Role The successful candidate will lead and develop a dedicated accounting services team, overseeing payroll, pensions, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and financial systems. You'll ensure robust internal controls, regulatory compliance, and high-quality financial reporting across several legal entities. This is a pivotal role contributing to the effective operation of the finance department and wider organisation. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of 4 direct reports across finance Oversee preparation of statutory accounts, audit management and compliance reporting (SORP, VAT, Gift Aid) Maintain financial control environment, reviewing reconciliations and ensuring timely, accurate reporting Act as system administrator for finance and banking systems Prepare monthly management reports and quarterly KPI dashboards Support treasury and investment planning Attend Audit and Risk Committee meetings and contribute to financial governance Candidate Profile Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with 5-10 years' post-qualification experience Strong background in financial control, statutory reporting and compliance Experience managing finance operations within a charity or not-for-profit setting Excellent knowledge of SORP, VAT and Gift Aid Confident communicator with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
