Are you a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Support Worker looking to make a real difference in someone’s life?
We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist a 19-year-old young lady with complex physical and medical needs. She sustained a significant hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) at birth, requiring ventilation and cooling. She was later diagnosed with severe global cerebral injury and has Spastic Quadriplegia (four-limb Cerebral Palsy).
She also lives with dystonia, experiences difficulty managing oral secretions, and has a poor swallow reflex, putting her at high risk of chest infections. She is PEG fed, and her parents provide a blended diet through the feeding tube.
About the Role
You will be supporting a bright and engaging young woman who requires full assistance with daily care. She is non-verbal, uses a wheelchair, and communicates through non-verbal methods. You’ll play a key role in supporting her health, comfort, and participation in daily life both at home and in the community.
Responsibilities
* Providing full personal care and hygiene support
* PEG feeding (including blended diet management – training will be provided)
* Supporting chest care and oral secretion management to reduce infection risk
* Assisting with moving and handling using specialist equipment
* Administering medications (as per training and guidance)
* Supporting her emotional wellbeing and communication needs
* Encouraging engagement in leisure activities
* Working alongside healthcare professionals to follow detailed care plans
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience supporting individuals with complex health and physical disabilities
* Understanding of Cerebral Palsy, HIE, dystonia, PEG feeding, and chest care
* Patient, calm, and person-centred approach
* Physically fit to assist with moving and handling tasks
* Excellent communication, observation, and teamwork skills
* Willingness to learn and undertake bespoke training
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one)
* UK driving licence preferred but not essential
We Offer
* Ongoing training
* Supportive and well-structured working environment
* An opportunity to genuinely improve someone’s quality of life
If you are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and want to work with a committed and loving family to support their daughter, we would love to hear from you.
