We are looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our Product and Engineering Support team. This isn’t a desk job—you’ll be the face of Martin-Baker on the hangar floor, providing world-class technical support to military and civil aviation customers across the globe.
The Role
You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and trial installation of ejection seats and aircraft canopy systems. Whether you are working on the cutting-edge F-35 program or retrofitting legacy platforms, your hands-on expertise ensures our life-saving equipment performs perfectly every time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Global Support: Travel internationally for deployments ranging from one to several weeks.
* Technical Mastery: Perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on ejection seats and explosive canopy cords.
* Trial Installations (TIs): Collaborate with Design Engineers and Human Factors specialists to retrofit seats into aircraft.
* Customer Liaison: Manage high-pressure on-site interactions, providing technical solutions and managing expectations for military and civil clients.
* Precision: Maintain strict tool control and follow complex engineering drawings and technical manuals.
The Ideal Candidate:
You are a disciplined technician who thrives in autonomous, high-stakes environments. You take pride in your "hand skills" and have the diplomatic touch needed to handle complex customer relations.
Must-Haves:
* Experience: Proven background in the Aerospace or Aeronautical industry.
* Education: HNC, BTEC, or NVQ Level 3/4 in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
* Technical Aptitude: Exceptional mechanical "hand skills" and the ability to interpret complex engineering documentation.
* Mindset: A willingness to travel extensively and work independently after training.
* Communication: Professionalism to manage difficult customer interactions on-site.
Nice-to-Haves:
* Military background (specifically RAF Armament trade or similar).
* Direct experience with ejection seat maintenance or canopy fitting.
* Experience in helicopter or aircraft line maintenance.
