Solicitor – Defendant Insurance Litigation (0–2 PQE)
Overview
A leading defendant litigation practice is seeking a newly qualified to 2 years PQE Solicitor to join its growing insurance litigation team in Belfast.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of litigated Employer’s Liability and Public Liability matters within the County Court jurisdiction. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and supportive team with strong expertise in insurance defence litigation and clear opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities
* Managing a caseload of Employer’s Liability and Public Liability claims within the County Court jurisdiction
* Handling litigated matters from instruction through to resolution in line with client requirements
* Communicating effectively with clients, colleagues and third parties including insurers, insured parties and witnesses
* Interviewing witnesses and preparing witness statements
* Drafting pleadings, court applications and other legal documentation
* Instructing Counsel and attending consultations, conferences and mediations
* Attending court hearings, settlement conferences and trials where required
* Proactively identifying next steps within cases and progressing matters efficiently
* Maintaining accurate case management records and reporting updates where required
* Ensuring compliance with relevant professional regulations and internal procedures
Essential Skills and Experience
* Qualified Solicitor in Northern Ireland with up to 2 years PQE
* Litigation experience is desirable, ideally within insurance defence, though this is not essential
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good advocacy and negotiation abilities
* Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
* Strong analytical and research skills
* High level of attention to detail
* Proficient IT skills and experience using case management systems
