Information Analyst - Band 5 x 3

There are three full‑time vacancies available: two supporting the Surgery Division and one supporting the Medicine Division. For more information, please contact Angel Masih Flynn (angel.masih1@nhs.net) regarding the Surgical roles, or Ben Hidvegi (ben.hidvegi@nhs.net) for the Medicine position.

As an Information Analyst, you will provide high‑quality information and analysis to the organisation and external stakeholders within either the Surgical or Medicine Division. You will work closely with clinicians and senior managers to understand their needs, develop effective reporting tools, and deliver insights that support informed decision‑making. The role requires strong engagement skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to build positive relationships that help improve patient care.

Main duties of the job

These roles are based within the Business Intelligence Unit at Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust. The ideal candidates will have strong analytical capabilities, along with the ability to effectively communicate and present complex information to a range of different stakeholders. The candidate will need to be able to work under pressure and be able to prioritise their own workload when there are conflicting deadlines.

We are therefore looking for analysts who have a drive and passion for delivering an exemplar BI service. Individuals who are both forward‑thinking and solutions‑oriented.

Job responsibilities

The post holder primarily has responsibility for the provision of information to both the organisation and our external stakeholders.

The post holder will also be responsible for interrogating large volumes of complex data and use a variety of software and analytical methods to turn this data into intelligence.

The post holder is expected to highlight any areas of concern with regard to data quality and accuracy, and undertake appropriate action as required. The post holder will work as part of a team of analysts and will also be required to work independently at times and manage their own workload. They will need to take a proactive approach with regard to prioritising and negotiating deadlines. Hybrid working arrangements accessible after a qualifying period.

Additional working pattern details: Hybrid work - 2-3 days per week on site.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational level


Knowledge and Skills

* Intermediate knowledge and highly skilled in the use of MS Excel
* An analytical mindset and ability to explain trends and themes in data.
* Good understanding of the importance of data quality
* Firm understanding of SQL and ability to write queries
* Basic knowledge and understanding of NHS Data Dictionary including datasets and data standards
* Good understanding of patient pathways


Experience

* Ability and experience to present information with a high level of accuracy to a wide range of audiences both verbally and electronically (e.g. charts, graphs, reports, scorecards, tables, dashboards etc.)
