Maintenance Team Leader (Mechanical)

Days, 50 hours per week, alternating Saturday mornings
£18-£20 per hour (£46,800-£52,000 per year) + Call-out
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join a busy manufacturer in Coalville. This is a practical, leadership role where you will guide a small maintenance team, take ownership of planned and reactive tasks, and set the standard for safety, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a small maintenance team (Maintenance Manager, newly qualified engineer, apprentice, experienced engineer) on day-to-day mechanical tasks
Take a hands-on approach with breakdowns, PPMs, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure Health & Safety policies are followed and lead by example
Support team development through training, mentoring, and guidance
Manage job reporting and maintain accurate records
Organise spares, critical assets, and consumables
Assist with contractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to site procedures
Stand in for the Maintenance Manager when required
Be part of the call-out rota (1 in /4)Candidate Requirements:
Completed Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering apprenticeship
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic knowledge with understanding of electrical systems
Proven experience leading or supervising a maintenance team
Ability to challenge and support team members to achieve performance and quality standards
Good organisational and communication skills
