Job Title: Lead Teacher - 2:1 Alternative Provision
Location: BH7, Bournemouth
Pay: £30-35 per hour
Hours: Part-time, 10 hours, with the option to support an additional nearby student if full-time hours are preferred.
Times: 2:45 - 4:45 pm Monday to Friday
Contract: Flexible daytime hours
Subjects: Entry Level Functional Skills, Maths and English
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced, calm, and relational Lead Teacher to deliver a high‑quality 2:1 tuition provision for a 16‑year‑old student in Bournemouth. They present with significant receptive and expressive language difficulties, working memory challenges, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and are at high risk of disengagement with a history of school exclusion. They benefit from a patient, consistent, and creative approach. They respond well to adults who can build trust, use humour appropriately, and make learning practical and achievable. With clear boundaries, predictable routines, and learning broken into manageable steps, they can engage well and make strong progress. You will lead English and Maths sessions at Entry Level Functional Skills, ensuring lessons are accessible, structured, and tailored to their needs. The role also involves supporting emotional regulation, reducing barriers to engagement, and helping them feel safe and understood. As they prepare for post‑16 transition, you will guide them in exploring appropriate next steps and career pathways.

Responsibilities:
* Lead a high‑quality 2:1 educational provision
* Deliver tailored English and Maths sessions based on the student's cognitive and SEMH needs
* Create a calm, structured environment that supports engagement and reduces anxiety
* Implement clear behaviour modelling and positive relational practice
* Adapt teaching for language‑processing difficulties and working memory challenges
* Work collaboratively with support staff and families
* Complete tuition reports and maintain professional communication
Requirements:
* QTS or equivalent (PGCE, QTLS, etc.)
* 2+ years' teaching experience
* Strong SEN and SEMH background
* Confident in supporting students with language‑processing difficulties and low working memory
* Ability to deliver KS4 English and Maths or Functional Skills Maths and English
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service + Right to Work in the UK
* Strong safeguarding knowledge
