Job Description A UK-wide role for an ICT Engineer within WSP’s Building Technology Systems team. The role is based in any of our UK offices and involves ICT design, project management and delivery of projects from inception to handover.
Responsibilities
Design IT networks within buildings, collaborating with multiple design disciplines and implementing leading‑edge designs and technologies into real‑world applications.
Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand, develop and interpret requirements from concept to detailed design on multi‑disciplinary projects, in coordination with architects, engineers and specialist consultants.
Collaborate across WSP with specialists in MEP, Smart, AV and other disciplines to develop holistic solutions.
Create future‑ready buildings with an ICT foundation that delivers great user experiences and innovates the built environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Passion for the future of technology in the built environment.
Experience in ICT design and project delivery for medium to large building projects.
Ability to produce detailed design and performance specifications, subject to review by colleagues before issue.
Ability to conduct feasibility studies for review by colleagues before issue.
Experience producing detailed equipment schedules for issue with discipline‑specific designs.
Providing design and technical advice on projects led by seniors, or taking a discipline‑lead role on smaller projects.
Ability to create and interpret technical documents including reports, diagrams, drawings and specifications.
Ability to work independently using own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of the discipline.
Ability to work under clear direction of others and interpret the needs of a project where applicable.
Effective communication of complex technical information and non‑technical information to clients both inside and outside the business.
Understanding of specialist building systems including MEP, BMS, fire safety, lighting and security systems, and the smart‑building technology aspects of deploying modern smart buildings.
CIBSE, IET or Engineering Council accredited honours degree, or specific experience that will lead to chartership.
RevitMEP training applied to the discipline.
Any accredited network qualification (e.g. Cisco certifications or RCDD).
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and capable of achieving SC‑level UK security clearance.
