Maths Teacher Location: Redcar Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time Industry: Education and Training Salary: £170 - £250 per day Job Description We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences in alignment with the national curriculum and school policies. This role entails planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students, assessing pupil progress, and supporting individual learning requirements. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver effective, stimulating mathematics lessons that accommodate all learners and comply with the national curriculum. Assess, record, and report on pupil progress and attainment regularly, providing constructive feedback to pupils and their parents or carers. Develop and implement well-structured schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources. Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment by managing pupil behaviour consistently and effectively. Identify and address individual learning needs, offering additional support or interventions where appropriate. Participate actively in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and school improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and other relevant documentation. Promote the school’s values and consistently uphold safeguarding and health and safety procedures. Essential Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification. A degree or equivalent qualification in Mathematics or a closely related subject. Education and Professional Development Completed teacher training with a focus on mathematics education. A commitment to continuous professional development in both teaching practise and subject knowledge. Experience Proven experience teaching mathematics to secondary school pupils, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4. Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons that support pupil progress. Experience working within a school environment, with a good understanding of school routines and effective classroom management. Knowledge and Skills Strong subject knowledge of mathematics, including curriculum content and assessment criteria. Effective classroom and behaviour management techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage pupils and collaborate with colleagues and parents or carers. Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners. Highly organised, with strong record-keeping and time-management skills. Proficient use of information and communication technology to enhance teaching and learning. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Experience teaching GCSE Mathematics and familiarity with examination specifications. Additional training or qualifications in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Experience working with pupils of diverse abilities and backgrounds. Knowledge of educational assessment tools and data analysis. Working Conditions This is a full-time temporary role, typically during standard school hours, with occasional additional duties such as meetings or school events. The position is based primarily within a classroom environment at a school in Redcar, North Yorkshire. The role requires standing for extended periods and actively engaging with pupils.
