Role overview
The Fund Accounting Tax Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department, driving a variety of tax related activities activities in coordination with the Operations - Fund Accounting Team and Custody Tax team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of activities associated with Net Asset Valuations (NAV's) by ensuring accurate tax rates are accrued (withholding taxes and capital gain taxes). Other accountabilities will include the oversight and calculation of taxation figures and reports for different target markets.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage Fund Accounting Tax Operations at global level, including people managers as well as partner across department and business to develop and enhance cost effective solutions that meet client expectations and needs
2. Assess new business viability against existing business capabilities and make appropriate recommendations for the appropriate processes to be implemented, in partnership with Product and Tech colleagues
3. Assist and encourage employee career progression through defined career paths, management processes, appropriate training, and Professional Development Plans (PDPs)
4. Evaluate risk and controls, including operational impact of changes in legislation, and ensure compliance to established controls
5. Lead strategic planning process with business units and prioritize business development requirements to completion
6. Monitor Profit and Loss (P&L), expense managements, budget, and planning
7. Monitor, set, and achieve established department goals during day-to-day operations as well as serve as point of escalation for complex issues and manage resolution of issues and new business requests
8. Direct and participate in department and industry initiatives as well as support corporate governance and ethics
9. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
10. Senior relevant experience
11. Chartered Accountant / CFA / MBA an advantage
12. Experience within financial markets and fund accounting
13. Strong knowledge of taxation mechanisms for funds, proximity and connectivity with tax specialists an advantage
14. Experience in financial services, client management, project management, strategic management, operational management, and resource and expense management
15. Experience with people management and working with multiple stakeholders
16. Advanced knowledge of accounting concepts, financial services, and global financial markets
17. Ability to manage client relationships
18. Demonstrated talent assessment as well as the ability to manage client relationships
