Role Title: Head of Electrical Operations Reporting Line Manager: The Head of Electrical Operations will report to the Director of Vessel Build Operations. Departmental Overview: The Vessel Operations Team is responsible for the building, outfitting, and commissioning of ATL’s eFoiler® vessels worldwide, as well as overseeing in-field operations, including sea trials, demonstrations, and maintenance services. Our Vessel Operations Department collaborate with a network of external shipbuilding partners (“Spokes”) across the world, ensuring that a streamlined delivery of ATLs vessels anywhere in the world, in compliance with both international and local regulations. Role Overview: The Head of Electrical Operations will oversee, lead and execute the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems on ATL’s eFoiler® vessels. The role involves working on power distribution, propulsion systems, energy storage solutions, automation, communication and navigation systems to ensure compliance with marine regulations and operational efficiency and safety. The Head of Electrical Operations will collaborate with shipbuilders, eFoiler® team, and project teams to deliver high-quality electrical installations for ATL’s eFoiler® vessels and eFoiler kit of parts. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities: Collaborate with a team of electrical engineers and technicians, leading and providing mentorship and guidance related to marine electrical installations to ATL. Work closely with product design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into ATL’s products. Ensure ATL has the correct resources available for any electrical projects it is delivering at any one time, whether it is contractors or ATLs employees. Plan, schedule, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope while managing resources efficiently. Collaborate with the eFoiler® and eVessel teams in the definition and execution of Artemis’ Kit of Parts. Lead the integration of electric systems into ATLs vessels, including high-voltage and low-voltage power circuits, controls and automation systems. Ensure all installations are performed at the highest standards and in compliance with the relevant marine regulations for each project. Define and perform end of line tests for electrical installations, such as voltage checks, insulation resistance tests, load testing, and functional tests on all electrical installations. Support the commissioning engineers during commissioning of ATL electrical systems. Support sea trials, system tuning, and final handovers to vessel operators as required by ATL. Knowledge And Specialist Skills: Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or proven relevant experience. Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine electrical engineering, installation and testing. Preferred Experience: Project management skills, with experience using project management software, such as MS Projects or others. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to engineering challenges. Familiarity with marine classification standards. Key Skills Required: Technical Skills: Full understanding of the Standard Operating Procedures for the role. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Maintain a high level of housekeeping to 5S standard within the factory but specifically in the individual's own work area. To comply with Health and safety policies at all times whilst in the workplace. Exercise absolute integrity in respect of confidential matters. Preferred Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of ship design and construction methods. Experience of working in a low volume high complexity manufacturing environment. Experience of working with design and manufacturing engineers in the early stages of a project. Communication Skills: Demonstrable ability of capturing complex requirements. Good report writing skills – clear, concise, and well structured. Articulate written, visual, and verbal communicator. Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills. Teamworking Skills: Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and resolve. An appreciation of, and an ability to, positively resolve issues arising from different cultures. Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally. Proven ability to influence, align teams, and drive technical execution in a timely manner. Organising and Time Management Skills: Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines. Ability to coordinate with other departments and flag issues. Flexibility to pivot direction quickly to meet deadlines whilst focusing on multiple deliverables simultaneously. Dedication to completing tasks in high quality and timely manner with an ability to predict complex project timelines.
