Location: Operating Base - 338 Athlon Road, Alperton, Wembley, HA0 1YJ
Reporting to: Operations Director
Overall purpose of the job:
To control and supervise all the operating staff attached to the operating base, in a safe and efficient manner, whilst complying with all current legislation. Role includes 'Site Management' of the depot and offices. The role may entail working long shifts on duty days, which could include weekends and public holidays.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
1. To manage, in conjunction with the Director and other traffic staff, the 'day to day' vehicle and driver output of the 'Operating Base'.
2. To source cover for unallocated duties, and replacement buses and/or coaches as necessary.
3. To ensure compliance with drivers hours and tachograph regulations and ensure compliance with all other relevant current regulations.
4. To manage staff holiday allocation, shift changes and rest day changes.
5. To allocate rest day working and overtime as appropriate.
6. To liaise with engineers to ensue vehicles are available for safety checks and other planned maintenance, and collate drivers defect reports to ensure swift repair of minor defects.
7. To ensure all relevant information is supplied to payroll department on time.
8. To deal with accident and incident reports, and maintain the relevant records.
9. To keep and secure all vehicle documentation, and ensure all compliance dates are adhered to.
10. To carry out complaint investigations concerning platform staff, and where necessary first level discipline, monitor sickness levels and interview as appropriate.
11. To maintain staff records with respect to sickness and disciplinary matters.
12. Employ/Interview and recruit Drivers, Shunters and Cleaners
13. Knowledge about creating Schedules and rota
Expected results and standards:
1. To assist in the planning and execution of the 'day to day' operations of the 'Operating Base'.
2. To ensue safe and efficient operation of the bus and coach fleets, whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience
1. Must hold Passenger Transport Manager CPC.
2. Previous experience in 'man management' situations.
3. Experience of working in the passenger transport industry.
4. Current PSV licence.
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
1. Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills.
2. Computer literate, Word and Excel as minimum.
3. Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation.
4. Knowledge of drivers' hours' regulations, E.C. and domestic.
5. Competent in the use and analysis of digital tachographs.
6. Working knowledge of PSV regulations.
7. Team player, but capable of working on own initiative if necessary.
8. Able to work quickly and accurately.
9. To be able to analysis conflicting data for diverse sources, and put the correct procedures in progress e.g. accident reporting.
The job holder must be capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, dealing with drivers, guides, customer service assistants, and members of the public when necessary.

Pay: £48,000.00-£52,000.00 per year
