We are seeking
to appoint a talented and ambitious Postdoctoral Research Assistant interested in studying the molecular mechanisms of Salmonella pathogenesis, with a particular focus on the role of multidrug efflux pumps as virulence determinants. You will report to Dr Ilyas Alav, a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow. As well as joining the dynamic research community at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, you will be part of a larger Salmonella and host-pathogen research group led by Prof. Teresa Thurston. The post-holder should be able to work independently and manage their own academic research programme in efflux pump biology and bacterial pathogenesis. You will use your initiative to drive the research forward in a rigorous, efficient and timely manner while exploring multifaceted efflux pump functions in bacterial virulence. The post-holder will have a high degree of autonomy in developing methodology and experimental approaches, alongside the opportunity to build on existing expertise in bacteriology, cell biology, and biochemistry within the group.
