About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to play a leading role in promoting a safe, sustainable, and compliant workplace within a busy food supply environment. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental standards across all areas of the operation.
You’ll lead by example — engaging with teams at every level to drive a positive safety culture, ensure full legal compliance, and continuously improve our performance in health, safety, and environmental management.
Key Responsibilities

Champion and promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across the business.

Advise and support managers and employees on compliance with current HSE legislation, customer standards, and internal policies.
*
Lead site safety and environmental meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and completed.
*
Conduct and oversee workplace risk assessments and ensure safe working practices are in place.
*
Manage the near-miss reporting programme and ensure learnings are effectively communicated.
*
Maintain accurate accident, incident, and audit records in line with statutory and company requirements.
*
Liaise confidently with enforcement authorities, insurers, and auditors.
*
Oversee waste management processes to ensure legal compliance and alignment with environmental best practices.
*
Maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and SAI Global H&S standards across the site.
*
Prepare regular HSE performance reports for senior management.
*
Support training needs analysis and assist the Training Manager in delivering effective safety and environmental training.
About You
*
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage and influence at all levels.
*
Strong understanding of food industry operations and related HSE challenges.
*
Confident, proactive, and able to challenge unsafe practices constructively.
*
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
*
Working knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
*
Competent in Microsoft Office and internal reporting systems.
Qualifications
*
NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (essential within 6 months of starting).
*
IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management (essential within 6 months of starting).
