Category Manager page is loaded## Category Managerlocations: Reino Unido, Glasgowposted on: Publicado hoytime left to apply: Fecha final: 4 de noviembre de 2025 (Quedan 13 días para realizar la solicitud)job requisition id: R-23369**Category Manager****ScottishPower HQ, Glasgow (hybrid)****Salary starting from £61,600 + up to 20% bonus, car allowance and other excellent benefits****Permanent, full-time position****Closing date: 4th of November*****Help us create a better future, quicker***The ScottishPower Procurement function has responsibility for managing delivery of all procurement activity in support of all Corporate and Business areas of ScottishPower.Reporting to the Senior Category Manager (Transmission Works) and working with the UK and Global Procurement teams, while liaising closely with the SP Transmission business and engaging with key external third parties, the Procurement Category Manager (Strategic Projects) will have a key role in managing and defining procurement activity and approaches to support the delivery of future SPT Business Plans.The post holder will be expected to contribute to defining the procurement strategy and providing support on procurement tender processes relating to some of SPEN’s largest and most complex project requirements, their Strategic Projects. The role manages the Transmission Strategic Projects category to meet SPT’s Business Plan commitments while driving a competitive supply chain environment, optimising efficiency within the procurement process, while delivering security of supply.**What you'll be doing*** Drive demonstrable performance of the Strategic Project Category team to deliver key objectives and business goals.* Contribute to the development of the long-term Procurement plans, strategy and activity relating to Procurement for Strategic Projects activity* Identify, assess and manage risk relating to the Procurement events within the category* Ensuring all internal and external legal, regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. Procurement Regulations, TUPE legislation, GDPR, Modern Slavery, Cyber Security, Credit Risk, Sustainability and Business Separation requirements) are catered for.* Co-ordinate purchasing activity with senior management with the designated business area to ensure activity will allow critical business deliverables to be met* Engage with the appropriate global procurement stakeholders to ensure the UK market and requirements are understood and catered for, while leveraging IBERDROLA Group benefits.* Monitor wider supply chain activity taking into account market and geopolitical factors and provide purchasing input to business contracting strategy, while proactively identify competitive tension in the market for the services or goods required and consider business requirements to determine the appropriate response* Identify supply chain capacity opportunities through alternative competitive sourcing strategies* Use supplier pricing information and cost comparison models for use in tender process to ensure that costs are optimised and process remains transparent* Provide expert contractual support and advice to project and contract managers and Procurement staff in dealing with contractors and suppliers during the post-contract award phase to avoid, mitigate and resolve claims and disputes* Identify and assess (and where necessary, in conjunction with Credit Risk) determine risks associated with a supplier’s financial strength and implement appropriate mitigating actions through the tender process and contract.**What you'll bring*** Educated to degree level in a commercial, technical or procurement discipline* Membership of CIPS ideally to Level 4* Experience of leading large and complex contract negotiations* Knowledge of general and specific contractual terms & conditions* Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, including key external suppliers as well as local and global internally* Strong team leadership and ability to build a team whilst also being a team worker; experience of leading a multi-functional project team desirable* Expert knowledge of best practice procurement principles, practices and processes including both tactical and strategic procurement principles* Strong level of numerical analysis capabilities* Excellent written and verbal communications* Proven ability to build credibility, independently and constructively challenge senior leaders, peers and others* Able to provide a high level of service to customer while being a point of challenge and providing governance on key areas of compliance* Ability to coach, mentor and develop skills and enhance performance of team members* Ability to produce strategies and plans that balance competing priorities* Ability to interact with supply base, assess information and develop procurement strategies and propose alterations to business activity* Requirement to assess information, both numerical and written and produce sound conclusions to be communicated with wider business and senior management* Expert knowledge in business area and specific contractual terms* Ability to succinctly explain complex and detailed commercial issues and interactions to give full understanding to senior managers to reach business decisions* Ability to evaluate, develop and recommend solutions to complex commercial issues in order to mitigate the threat to the achievement of ScottishPower’s objectives in light of changing commercial stance by key counter-parties* Reviewing conflicting and competing needs covering sustainable cost reductions, risk mitigation, increased efficiency or utilisation and high levels of reliability, security and quality of supply and obtaining agreement with business colleagues on key criteria* Flexibility and ability to manage multiple, conflicting and changing priorities of workload for team and self and satisfy expectations of internal customers and external parties**Minimum Criteria*** Educated to degree level in a commercial, technical or procurement discipline* Experience of leading large and complex contract negotiations* Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, including key external suppliers as well as local and global internally* Strong level of numerical analysis capabilities* Excellent written and verbal communications* Excellent influencing skills at senior levels.**What’s in it for you**As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
