Additionally, as recently announced, we have a new drama co-label, BBC Studios Fiction which is brimming with fresh ideas and broadening our creative ambition in to high-end drama.
As we embark on exciting new ventures, we're seeking a passionate and motivated Development Producer to support creative leads and help shape a bold, dynamic slate of drama and comedy projects. This is a chance to collaborate with top talent, develop standout content, and grow within a supportive, inclusive environment.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
This fixed term role is an exciting opportunity to work across development and production simultaneously. It's a chance to champion new voices, demonstrate editorial acumen, and bring ideas to life in a role that feeds directly in to the Executive level.
You will directly shape and influence a slate of development projects as you drive them towards greenlight, whilst keeping your hand in production by providing editorial and script editing support to high-end, prime time productions.
Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Work closely with writers to shape projects alongside the Head of Development, Executive Producers and Head of Comedy
* Generate and develop ideas to help grow the slate. Identify new and existing talent, lead and contribute to idea generation, create compelling pitches, and build and foster relationships with potential clients
* Development producer on titles in production as required; work with writers to incorporate notes and changes while ensuring awareness of editorial values and production constraints
* Promote and embrace an inclusive culture; ensuring our content reflects the breadth and diversity of our audiences
* Ensure compliance with BBC Editorial and Legal guidelines; ensuring scripts and ideas are thoroughly checked for copyright, libel, and defamation risks
* Stay up to date with new and emerging writing talent, content and industry trends
Your Skills & Experience
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Experience of developing and/or script editing television comedy and/or drama content for broadcast
* Experience of leading projects through the development process and on to greenlight
* Strong writing and script editing skills and a track record for generating and developing comedy ideas for television
* Knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for comedy across all forms, as well as expert knowledge of emerging talent and the market generally
* Expert knowledge of the comedy and/or drama television market and production processes, as well as contacts across the scripted television industry
* Experience of handling confidential and/or controversial information with tact and sensitivity
