Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity
As the Payment Risk Manager, you will oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks related to payment processes across the bank. Your role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks, while implementing fraud prevention measures. You will lead a team, develop risk strategies, and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain the security of payment systems.

What will your day look like?
This is a second line role reporting to the Head of Payments. Your responsibilities include:
* Managing payment risk initiatives such as Target Operating Model, risk reporting, process improvements, and business planning.
* Supporting the Payment Risk Change Forum.
* Collaborating with Payments, Risk, and Group teams for effective delivery.
* Developing stakeholder messaging for ERC, BRC, Risk SLT.
* Engaging with third-party experts to stay updated on industry risk management practices.
* Proposing strategies to enhance risk effectiveness and efficiency.
* Supporting colleagues across various activities.
What do we expect from you?
* Strong knowledge of UK and international payment schemes and regulations.
* High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first approach.
* Experience with payment processing systems and digital banking platforms.
* Extensive experience in payment risk management, fraud prevention, or financial crime.
* Knowledge of UK banking regulations including FCA, PSD2, AML.
* Experience managing risk frameworks for payment systems like CHAPS, Bacs, Faster Payments, SWIFT, Open Banking.
* Proficiency in data analytics and risk assessment tools.
* Leadership and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to evolving threats.
