Role Description
This is a remote, contract position for a Regional IHL Specialist. The IHL Specialist will be based in either the Middle East region (with fluent Arabic) or the West Sahel (with fluent French). The Specialist will be responsible for supporting an external evaluation of a program focused on strengthening the use of International Humanitarian Law in complex conflict settings. The work will involve document review, interviews, group discussions, and identifying behavioral outcomes related to IHL. You would work closely with a Team Leader who will bring strong Outcome Harvesting expertise, so your main contribution will be regional and IHL specific. The role will require adapting to dynamic project needs in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
* Strong grounding in International Humanitarian Law
* At least five years of experience in humanitarian, protection, peacebuilding, or legal advisory roles
* Experience conducting interviews or qualitative research
* Strong contextual knowledge of conflict dynamics and institutional actors in the region
* Fluency in Arabic for the Middle East role or French for the Sahel role
