About the Role
We're seeking an organised and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team on an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for permanent employment. This role supports our property management and construction-related projects by accurately estimating costs, preparing bids and proposals, and supporting budgeting and procurement processes. Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate cost estimates for repairs, refurbishments, maintenance projects, and new work in line with project plans and specifications.
* Gather and evaluate supplier quotes, subcontractor bids, and market data; perform bid comparisons and value engineering analyses.
* Develop detailed bills of quantities, cost plans, and procurement documentation.
* Collaborate with project managers, property managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure estimates align with scope, schedule, and budget.
* Track and report on cost performance, contingencies, and change orders; assist with budget development and tracking.
* Assist with tender preparation, contract administration, and post-bid negotiations as needed.
* Maintain organised documentation for audit readiness and version control.
* Provide administrative support for procurement and estimating activities as needed.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
* 1–3 years of experience in estimating, cost planning, or procurement, preferably in construction, property refurbishment, or facilities management.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with estimating software or procurement systems is a plus.
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain data integrity.
* Problem-solving mindset with the ability to escalate and address issues promptly.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Contract Details
* Term: 6-month initial contract with the potential for permanent hire based on performance, business needs, and budget.
* Schedule: Full-time, Mon-Fri, with flexibility as needed.
* Location: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote) in Sandy, UK.
