Key Responsibilities Tender Preparation: Accurately prepare cost estimates for groundworks and RC frame packages, ensuring all elements are thoroughly quantified and considered. Site Visits: Conduct site visits to gain an in-depth understanding of the project scope, working with the project team to develop a comprehensive cost plan. Take-Offs and Measurements: Carry out take-offs and detailed measurements from drawings, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accurately priced. Cost Analysis: Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotes, assess value engineering opportunities, and ensure the cost plan remains competitive. Collaboration: Work closely with the project managers, operations teams, and clients to deliver cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards. Risk Management: Identify potential risks to cost and project delivery, offering strategies for mitigation. Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of tenders and assist in decision-making with accurate data. Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and methods, suggesting improvements to the estimating process. Key Requirements: Proven experience as an Estimator within the groundworks and RC frame sector (minimum 2 years). Strong understanding of groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, and civil engineering practices. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to cost estimation. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work under pressure. A good understanding of contract types and procurement methods. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Relevant qualifications in construction or civil engineering (e.g., HNC/HND or degree level preferred).
