Overview
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic midwives to join the practice development team as Clinical Educators. This role includes mandatory and essential training, service activity, preceptorship programmes and clinical placements in line with Trust policies, procedures and national guidelines. The post supports new staff through preceptorship and induction programmes and provides access to education and training to ensure both new and existing staff maintain required skills and competencies. Training is evidence based and updated annually.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and be up to date and confident with all clinical skills. The Trust operates three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour.

Royal Derby Hospital has:
* 17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite
* Four bedded Midwife led birth centre
* Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay
Queens Hospital Burton has:
* 7 delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite

Main duties and responsibilities
* Teach and facilitate learning of a wide range of staff from MCAs, MSWs, midwives and the multi-professional team in line with the Maternity Incentive Scheme and Core Competency Framework
* Offer clinical and pastoral support to newly qualified midwives
* Organise induction programmes for a wide range of staff and liaise with departments within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton essential to planning such programmes
* Support and facilitate learning opportunities for fetal monitoring learning, working alongside the fetal monitoring lead midwife
* Support introduction of new equipment, pathways of care, guidance; assist with audit and lead on various projects
* Liaise with professional development teams from nursing, AHPs and clinical skills

Essential
* NMC Registration
* Demonstrable post registration experience
Qualifications
* Mentorship experience/SSSA qualification
* Evidence of CPD
Desirable
* NLS instructor
* GIC
* PROMPT Instructor
* Post Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent
Communication
* Maintains regular contact with the learning communities (universities, Practice Development midwives, clinical facilitators)
* Excellent communication skills
Desirable: Leadership experience
Organisational skills
* Manages own workload and operates with minimal supervision
* Acts as a resource for clinical staff with regard to learning
* IT literate
