FPGA Design Engineer – Cutting-Edge Video Technology
Location: Bristol (On-Site)
Blackmagic Design creates some of the world’s most advanced products for the film, television, and post-production industries — including digital film cameras, colour correctors, video converters, live production switchers, routers, and more. Our technology powers some of the biggest productions and broadcasts around the globe.
We’re expanding our engineering team in Bristol and are looking for talented FPGA Engineers to help develop the next generation of high-performance video technology. You’ll join a collaborative, highly skilled team working on innovative projects that directly shape how creative professionals produce and deliver content.
What You’ll Do
* Design, implement, and optimise FPGA-based solutions for video processing, encoding, decoding, and streaming.
* Develop and integrate FPGAs with high-speed video interfaces (e.g. HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI).
* Translate product requirements into robust, efficient hardware designs.
* Debug and validate FPGA designs at system level, collaborating with cross-functional hardware and software teams.
* Drive projects from concept through to production in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
What You Bring
* A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
* At least 1 year of professional experience in FPGA design.
* Strong proficiency in VHDL or Verilog, ideally with Xilinx devices.
* Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
* Solid understanding of synchronous design techniques, timing closure, and reliable FPGA coding practices.
* Firmware design experience.
* (Bonus) Familiarity with image or video processing techniques (e.g. OpenCV).
* (Bonus) Experience with scripting or other programming languages.
