An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced Assistant Headteacher - SENDCO to join a thriving and inclusive school in Coulsdon. This is a full-time permanent role, offering a strategic leadership opportunity with a timetabled teaching commitment. The post will initially be a training and development placement with the expectation of full SLT progression after a successful appraisal review.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and implementing the school’s vision, leading on SEND provision, and supporting both staff and students to achieve outstanding outcomes. You will work closely with the Headteacher, SLT, governors, and external agencies to ensure a high-quality education for all pupils, particularly those with SEND.

About the Role
As Assistant Headteacher – SENDCO, you will:
* Lead and manage SEND provision across the school, including day-to-day coordination and strategic oversight.
* Provide guidance and training to staff, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with SEND.
* Maintain and review the SEND register, provision maps, and Annual Review reports.
* Work with external agencies, families, and colleagues to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
* Contribute to whole-school policy, development planning, and SLT decision-making.
* Take a timetabled teaching commitment tailored to your expertise.
* Monitor and evaluate SEND interventions and staff performance.
* Support the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of all pupils.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has strong leadership potential.
* Has experience in SEND provision and understands the statutory framework for SEN support.
* Can adapt curriculum delivery to meet all pupils’ needs and implement personalised learning goals.
* Demonstrates excellent organisation, communication, and ICT skills.
* Has a track record of working collaboratively and leading staff effectively.
* Is committed to professional development and continuous improvement.
* Exhibits a passion for inclusive education and safeguarding of children and young people.
