Offer description

Medical Treatment Unit is a Nurse led treatment area for out patients needing regular IV Therapy for Long term conditions. This involves, nMabs, IVIG, blood transfusions & HAS to name a few. We also offer short synacthen tests and other one day testing.

Managing IV Infusions, blood transfusions, performing cannulation & phlebotomy. Escalating to the medical Team when needed.

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 - 18:30.

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete "on call" duties within their role.

Person Specification


Education and qualifications

* oNMC Registration
* oBLS & ILS trained
* oTeaching qualification e.g.ENB 998 or equivalent
* oEvidence of ongoing professional development
* oA1 Assessor course
* oPreparation for Mentorship
* oALS


Experience and knowledge

* oWillingness to share knowledge
* oAwareness of current political/professional issues
* oDemonstrates awareness of the 6C's, Trust values and Patients First Service Standards
* oDemonstrates an awareness of the importance of keeping the clinical environment safe and clean
* oKnowledge of the Data Protection Act
* oPrevious acute experience within the NHS
* oDemonstrates experience managing deteriorating patients
* oResearch experience
* oExperience working in acute respiratory care
* oExperience with looking after level two patients.
* oExperience of working in an Acute NHS Trust


Skills and abilities

* oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
* oAbility to work to clear guidelines and within role boundaries
* oAbility to work under pressure
* oAccurate with attention to detail
* oCommunicates clearly in writing, verbally and using the telephone
* oProficient in accurate, objective documentation and clinical hand- over of patients

* oIV Drug administration trained
* oBlood Transfusion trained
* oTeam worker, who is able to prioritize effectively
* oAwareness of own limitations

£31,049 to £37,796 a yearpro rata, per annum
