Axcis Education is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southmead, Bristol, to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). This role will start in November 2025 and runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, term-time only. About the Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will: •Provide 1:1 and small-group support to children with a range of speech and language needs. •Use visual supports, simplified instructions, and repetition to aid communication and learning. •Deliver activities and programmes designed by the school’s Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) team. •Encourage participation, confidence, and independence in both classroom and social settings. •Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to ensure consistent, child-centred support. •Create a positive, language-rich environment where every pupil feels included and valued. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: •Has experience supporting children with speech and language difficulties in a primary or nursery setting (highly desirable). •Brings patience, empathy, and creativity when helping children communicate and learn. •Can adapt support strategies to suit individual needs. •Is a strong team player with excellent communication skills. •Holds (or is willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS.
