Job Description
Job Title: Project Manager
Reporting to: BUGM
Business Unit: Transmission South
Role purpose
The Project Manager will have full accountability for the successful delivery of all overhead line and transmission projects within their designated area. This includes responsibility for the planning, execution, and completion of projects related to the construction, upgrade, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines. The role encompasses coordination of multidisciplinary teams, management of subcontractors, adherence to safety and environmental standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
The post holder will report directly to the Business Unit General Manager and will play a key role in client liaison, risk management, and the continuous improvement of project delivery processes within the transmission business.
Responsibilities & Duties
1. Project Planning & Execution: Developing detailed project plans, managing resources, and ensuring timely delivery within budget.
2. Risk Management: Ensuring the commercial success of projects by delivering work profitably within pre-calculated margins.
3. Team Management: Managing and evaluating the performance of teams on site and in administrative roles to optimize project delivery.
4. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring all activities adhere to safety regulations and environmental standards, delivering work safely, efficiently, and to high standards within budget and on time.
5. Stakeholder Coordination: Maintaining effective communication with customers to build trust and foster future business opportunities.
6. Resource Utilization: Providing clear direction and support, ensuring optimal use of resources through effective work programming and scheduling.
7. Continuous Improvement: Promoting innovation and best practices to enhance project delivery.
8. Quality & Safety: Ensuring work is delivered in line with safety and quality standards.
9. Financial Management: Achieving tendered margins, submitting claims timely, and managing budgets effectively.
10. Personnel Management: Managing and motivating employees and subcontractors, addressing poor performance as needed.
11. Reporting: Preparing periodic reports for customers and internal use, including progress and financial data.
12. Human Resources: Handling HR issues professionally, including disciplinary matters at the site level.
13. Customer Relations: Interacting courteously and professionally with all customers.
Key Performance Indicators
Metrics include safety audits, accident statistics, profit margins, operating costs, cash flow, variation percentages, quality defects, customer complaints, productivity, and attendance levels.
