Description
6.5 hours per week – term-time only / £33,795 per annum pro rata / permanent / one day per week - currently Wednesdays, with flexibility on the specific day from the school / the role will commence at the beginning of September 2025.

Role Overview
We are recruiting for a qualified counsellor or therapist with experience working with primary age children to join our team at Woodingdean Primary School from September 2025. Candidates should be passionate about making a difference and have experience working with children of primary age.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide an ethical, professional counselling service at Woodingdean Primary
2. Manage appointment systems and offer assessments and counselling appointments suitable to the school’s needs
3. Establish good professional relationships with school staff, manage referrals, and coordinate session timetables
4. Conduct initial assessments, manage risk, and establish referral pathways
5. Complete administrative tasks, attend supervision and line management meetings
6. Follow safeguarding procedures and know how to contact the Designated Safeguarding Officer
7. Adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and maintain professional membership
Qualifications and Experience
* Counselling or psychotherapy qualification minimum Level 4, ideally Level 6; 2 years’ post-qualification experience with children preferred
* BACP Membership (Registered or Accredited) or equivalent
* Understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies
* Experience working in a school setting and with creative therapeutic approaches
* Professional, flexible attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and good time management
