SEN BSL Specialist Teaching Assistant - Corby (via Tradewind Recruitment)
Tradewind Recruitment is excited to be recruiting a committed and enthusiastic SEN BSL Specialist Teaching Assistant to work within our friendly and inclusive partner schools in Corby. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils who communicate through British Sign Language and who may have hearing impairments, communication challenges, or complex SEND needs.
You will play a central role in helping pupils access learning, communicate confidently, and develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and socially.
Key Duties
1. Provide BSL-focused support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups.
2. Interpret classroom instructions, discussions, and activities using clear BSL.
3. Support teachers in adapting resources to meet communication and sensory needs.
4. Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
5. Work closely with SENCOs and other specialists to deliver tailored interventions.
6. Promote inclusion and independence across all school activities.
7. Observe, record, and share pupil progress with the wider team.
Essential Skills & Experience
8. BSL Level 2 (Level 3 preferred).
9. Understanding of Deaf culture and communication needs.
10. Previous experience supporting students with SEN.
11. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
12. A team-focused, child-centred attitude.
